Next Generation Learning Disability Leadership Faculty - new leadership programme run by the NDTi. £100 reduction for ASL members
August 24, 2009
The National Development Team for Inclusion (NDTi) is pleased to announce a leadership development initiative for
managers in the learning disability sector in England. Aimed at people who already have some management and
leadership responsibilities, this 14 month programme is targeted at people who have the ability – in around 2-4 years
time – to be in leadership positions such as a local authority lead officer, the senior manager in a sizeable
independent provider or an NHS Trust’s most senior learning disability manager. The Next Generation Faculty will bring together around 50 people from across the country who have that potential. They will meet in varying ways every two months with skilled and knowledgeable teaching and facilitation to learn and explore ideas around:
• Leadership skills and styles
• Organisational change and practice
• Cutting edge learning disability practice
• The developing shape of policy and its implementation
The programme will be led by Rob Greig, the NDTi Chief Executive and former National Director for Learning Disability. (Rob is also a graduate and post-graduate in management and organisational change). It will be an adaptation of the Next Generation Programme that he designed and led at the start of this decade whilst at
King’s College London. Participants on that previous course are now in influential positions across the country,
including as:
• Local authority learning disability leads
• A regional Social Care Change agent
• A key player in In Control
• An SHA learning disability lead
• A Chief Executive of a major voluntary sector provider
• A PCT Commissioning Director
• A nurse consultant
• An NDTi Associate!!!
The cost of the programme will be £1475 + VAT per person. (A number of places are available at £975 + VAT for people from the north-east and south-west, thanks to a subsidy from the Regional Valuing People Programmes). This covers all teaching and facilitation on the 10 days of the development programme, overnight accommodation
on the three two-day modules, meals on all days and all materials associated with the course. The potential for an optional accreditation of the course is being explored – this would be at an additional cost.
For more details about the programme and an application form contact Pauline White at Pauline.white@ndti.org.uk For an informal conversation, call Rob Greig on 01225 787982.
Please note, participation in this programme will be by selection and is expected to be competitive. The closing date for applications is October 30th 2009. The first module of the programme will be delivered in January 2010.
