Winterbourne View Review
November 2, 2011
Members will be aware that the ASL has drawn together good practice stories on supporting people with challenging behaviour in community based settings and two documents have been sent to MPs, some peers, and other people who may be able to influence future events. The Director General for Social Care, David Behan, has shown an interest in our work and has forwarded it to Bruce Calderwood, who now has the lead role on learning disability and mental health, and will be leading the review following events at Winterbourne View. We are hoping to be asked to play a part in the review itself.
Member organisations may wish to contribute to the review in their own right, in addition to having a collective voice via the ASL. All contributions should be sent via the web contact form on the Department of Health website - http://www.dh.gov.uk/health/contact-dh/
